You can call me Elaine. That isn't quite a pseudonym, but it isn't quite my real name, either. I'm a 20-year-old student at Ohio State University, and I started this blog to keep a record of my thoughts and revelations on the topics of race and interracial relationships. Since coming to the university last year, I've had to deal with a lot of issues I'd never encountered while growing up in my small, not-so-diverse hometown. Or perhaps it would be more accurate to say that I'm unlearning a lot of things and learning new ways to look at the world, and I'd like to use this blog to keep a record of my thoughts and progress towards (hopefully) a more enlightened racial perspective.

You're more than welcome to friend me and initiate/participate in discussions in my journal, but offensive comments will be ignored and/or deleted.

If I say something that offends you, go ahead and tell me. I'm just a girl, an admittedly stupid American girl, and I'm here to learn. But, please, don't just tell me that something offends you. Tell me WHY it offends you. You'll soon come to find that "why" is my favorite word.
